Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province will invest 492 million KRW this year to implement the Saengsaeng Card support project for female farmers.

According to the city on the 16th, this project was established to expand cultural and welfare opportunities for female farmers, and a total of 3,790 female farmers will benefit.

The eligible recipients are female farmers and fishers aged 20 to under 75 (born between January 1, 1951 and December 31, 2005) who reside in rural or fishing villages and are actually engaged in farming or fishing. Only those with annual non-farming/fishing income of less than 37 million KRW may apply.

The city has initially selected 3,336 people through the first round of applications and plans to continue accepting additional applicants within the remaining budget to expand the number of beneficiaries.

The support fund is 130,000 KRW per person per year. Until last year, recipients had to visit a bank in person to receive the Saengsaeng Card, but starting this year, points are automatically credited to the Nonghyup Chaeum Card, making the process much more convenient.

The Saengsaeng Card can be used at various businesses within Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, such as Nonghyup Hanaro Mart, hair salons, cosmetics stores, movie theaters, swimming pools, bookstores, photo studios, and opticians. However, usage is restricted at medical institutions, entertainment, and gambling establishments. The card can be used until the end of this year.

A Jeongeup City official stated, "The Saengsaeng Card project for female farmers is expected to contribute not only to welfare support but also to revitalizing the local economy by encouraging local consumption," adding, "We will continue to develop practical welfare policies so that female farmers can enjoy a variety of benefits."
