with Yesan County in the Same Living Area
Sungkwang Lee, Director of Construction and Transportation Department of Hongseong County, explaining the full implementation of illegal parking enforcement in Naepo New Town
In order to address the chronic problem of illegal parking and stopping that has been causing inconvenience to residents and worsening traffic congestion in Naepo New Town, the location of the South Chungcheong Provincial Government, Hongseong County has launched enforcement activities.
On the morning of the 16th, Hongseong County, South Chungcheong Province, announced in a briefing that it would strengthen enforcement against illegal parking and stopping in Naepo New Town, which is causing significant inconvenience to residents due to severe traffic congestion.
The enforcement will utilize fixed CCTV cameras installed in major downtown areas of Naepo New Town and is scheduled to begin on the 7th of next month.
Along with this, the county explained the standards for enforcement based on resident reports (Safety Sinmungo) and plans to resolve the illegal parking and stopping issues in Naepo New Town through the resident reporting system and regular patrols by enforcement officers.
In particular, to eliminate any differences in enforcement standards that may arise within the same living area of Naepo New Town, the county already reached an agreement with Yesan County in February to unify the enforcement standards.
The time-based enforcement plan presented by the county is as follows: for single yellow lines, enforcement will take place from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, with a 20-minute grace period, but enforcement will be suspended for two hours during lunchtime from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
For double yellow lines, enforcement will occur every day, including Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with a 5-minute grace period and no lunchtime suspension.
In children's protection zones, enforcement will take place every day, including weekends and public holidays, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with no lunchtime suspension.
Despite the county's strengthened enforcement plans, some point out that the inconvenience and traffic congestion caused by illegal parking and stopping in Naepo New Town stem from a severe shortage of parking spaces, and that fundamental measures such as securing more parking lots by the county or province are needed.
