Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Chung Kimyung) has achieved the remarkable feat of being selected as an excellent institution in the 'Food Safety Management Evaluation' for four consecutive years.
According to the city on the 16th, it was announced that Yeosu was selected as an excellent institution in the 'Food Safety Management Evaluation' organized by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, receiving an institutional commendation and a reward of 2 million KRW.
This evaluation comprehensively reviewed the operational performance of food hygiene policies, efforts to prevent food poisoning, and initiatives to raise food safety awareness among local governments nationwide. Yeosu City received high marks for its outstanding hygiene management capabilities and its strong public-private cooperation system.
Previously, the city has actively conducted regular hygiene inspections of restaurants and food manufacturing businesses, as well as seasonal food poisoning prevention campaigns and food safety promotional activities.
In particular, given its characteristics as a city with many tourists, Yeosu has worked hard to establish its image as a 'safe food city' through thorough food safety management.
A Yeosu City official stated, "Being selected as an excellent institution for four consecutive years is an achievement made possible by the cooperation of citizens and the efforts of on-site hygiene businesses," adding, "With the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo ahead and many tourists expected to visit Yeosu, we will continue to manage even more thoroughly to create a safe food culture environment."
