Approximately Five Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Projects to Be Selected
Busan Institute of Science and Technology Promotion (BISTEP, President Kim Youngbu) is accepting applications for the '2025 Busan Research Industry Promotion Complex Development Project New Tasks' until the 24th.
The Busan Research Industry Promotion Complex Development Project aims to strengthen the innovation capabilities of digital convergence customized research companies within the promotion complex (Centum City General Industrial Complex) by providing △ customized R&D support tailored to each stage of corporate growth and technology development △ identification of ICT technology challenges △ support for industry-academia joint R&D to enhance technological competitiveness based on AI, big data, and IoT. In addition to R&D support, the project is also being promoted to establish a research industry ecosystem led by the region through △ technology challenge consulting △ coordinating support △ hosting networking exchange meetings.
According to the 2025 Busan Research Industry Promotion Complex Development Project implementation announcement, 'Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Research' will select five projects to develop new advanced ICT-based R&D services for the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regional industries, providing a total of 525 million KRW per project over two years. In addition, 'Industry-Academia Cooperation R&D' will select three projects for joint industry-academia research to advance ICT technology for customized research operators within the Busan Research Industry Promotion Complex, providing 110 million KRW per project for one year.
The support conditions require that 'Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Research' must be a consortium of public research institutes and specialized production technology research centers located in Busan, Ulsan, or Gyeongnam, while 'Industry-Academia Cooperation R&D' requires joint R&D participation by companies that participated in technology challenge consulting in 2023 and 2024.
For 'Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Research', if the project falls under the key customized research promotion areas (△ Smart Factory △ Smart Ocean △ Video/Content), additional points (2 points) will be given through a suitability evaluation, and if a letter of intent is submitted after securing research and development service demand at least equal to the pre-support amount, additional points (3 points) will also be awarded.
