6MW Solar Power Facility Installed at Shanghai Smart Campus
Hyundai Elevator is accelerating its achievement of RE100 (100% renewable energy use) by installing solar power facilities at its smart campus in Shanghai, China.
Hyundai Elevator announced on the 16th that it recently completed the installation of a 6MW solar power facility at its Shanghai smart campus. Starting full operation from the second quarter, it will replace 47% of the total electricity consumption with eco-friendly energy. The installation was carried out using the building rooftop, similar to the method used at the Chungju smart campus in Chungbuk.
Hyundai Elevator announced its mid- to long-term RE100 roadmap in 2022. The plan is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 42% by 2030 and 71% by 2040, and to replace 100% of the electricity consumption at domestic business sites with renewable energy by 2050.

Previously, Hyundai Elevator installed a 7.6MW solar power facility at its Chungju smart campus in Korea. The generation capacity, which was 6MW in 2022, was expanded to 7.6MW by extending to parking lots, canopies, and other areas, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by a provisional 60% as of last year. This figure far exceeds the 2030 target.
Hyundai Elevator’s eco-friendly policies are implemented through various activities centered on the ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) subcommittee under the board of directors, including year-round energy-saving campaigns and the introduction of eco-friendly corporate vehicles. In the second half of this year, it is also promoting the introduction of solar power facilities at the Cheonan logistics center, continuing to implement its roadmap for carbon neutrality.
A Hyundai Elevator official said, "The installation of solar power facilities at the Shanghai smart campus is part of the implementation of the mid- to long-term roadmap to achieve carbon neutrality at domestic and overseas business sites," adding, "We will solidify our position as a global eco-friendly leading company through active RE100 implementation."
