"Wake Up, Busan Port!"... BPA and Lotte Wellfood Launch 'Drowsiness Alert' Campaign for Safety Culture

No Overloading, No Speeding, Follow Traffic Signals

Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Song Sangkeun) held the "Busan Port Drowsiness Alert, Wake Up!" campaign on April 15, in collaboration with Busan Port partner companies, to mark National Safety Day (April 16).


The campaign brought together Busan Port Authority, Busan Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries, Lotte Wellfood, and Busan Port terminal operators, who promoted safety guidelines to port workers and worked to spread a culture of safe driving and prevent traffic accidents.

Starting this year, BPA has significantly expanded the scope of campaign participants from the previous 12 terminal operators to 52 port stevedoring companies, and the campaign now targets 10,000 truck drivers, doubling last year's 5,000 participants.


The campaign theme was also changed from "2050 Speed Compliance" to more specific actions: "No Overloading, No Speeding, Follow Traffic Signals."


During the campaign, participating companies encouraged truck drivers to join by distributing anti-drowsiness gum, the campaign item, at four Busan Port truck driver rest areas (Gamman, Yongdang, Bukcon, and Ungdong).


Song Sangkeun, President of BPA, stated, "By linking the annual campaign held in April with National Safety Day, we aimed to expand its reach and raise awareness of traffic accident prevention," and added, "We will do our utmost to spread a sustainable culture of safe driving together with more partner organizations."
