Governor Kim San Inspects Livestock Farms and Quarantine Sites
All Events and Festivals Fully Canceled, Postponed, or Scaled Down

Muan County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Kim San) has either fully canceled, postponed, or scaled down all large-scale events in the area to prevent the spread of foot-and-mouth disease, which has been spreading recently. The county is focusing all administrative resources on strengthening quarantine measures.

According to the county on the 16th, since the first outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease on March 16, they have made every effort to contain the spread through initial quarantine. However, during the process of lifting movement restrictions within the 3km quarantine zone, additional cases were confirmed at two farms on the 11th and three more on the 14th.

The county immediately expanded the number of control posts to nine at affected farms and major roads, and is conducting intensive quarantine within the zone by deploying a joint drone quarantine team and snow removal vehicles.

Governor Kim San inspected the quarantine sites and instructed, "Make blocking the spread of foot-and-mouth disease the top priority, and cancel or postpone all events and festivals except for unavoidable cases such as legally mandated education."

Accordingly, the following events have been fully canceled: the Haeje Canola Flower Festival and Haeje Residents' Day on April 11, Mangun Residents' Day on April 12, Mulmajigol Forest Walk and Experience Event on April 12-13, and the Children's Day Celebration on May 3.

Additionally, the Donsego Festival in Unnam, which had already been postponed once due to the initial outbreak, has been rescheduled for October 3-4. The 56th Muan County Residents' Day, which was scheduled for May 7, has been postponed to mid-June. Furthermore, the county's signature event, the 11th Muan Hwangto Mudflat Festival (originally May 10-25), has been tentatively postponed to sometime in September.

The Choi Seonsa Birth Culture Festival, which was scheduled for the 26th, has been fully canceled. The official tea ceremony commemorating Choi Seonsa's birthday will be held in a simplified manner with only related personnel in attendance.

Governor Kim stated, "We will focus all administrative resources on minimizing damage to residents and livestock farmers," and requested, "As we inevitably postpone various festivals and events, we ask for residents' understanding and urge livestock farmers to thoroughly carry out quarantine and disinfection."
