Delivery Ceremony for 200 Million KRW... Launching Six Projects
Supporting Living Expenses, Career Planning, and Meal Care
Gwangsan-gu in Gwangju announced on the 16th that it will expand public-private partnership support for youth who care for their families.
Gwangsan-gu recently held a delivery ceremony at the district office to support youth caregivers and provided 200 million KRW in project funds to the Gwangju-Jeonnam branch of World Vision, a social welfare corporation, and three comprehensive social welfare centers in Gwangsan-gu (Songgwang, Cheomdan, Haengbok Dream).
Since signing a business agreement with World Vision in June last year, Gwangsan-gu has steadily promoted an integrated support project for youth caregivers. A total of 78 million KRW in living expenses has been provided to 105 youths who have taken on caregiving responsibilities due to family illness, disability, addiction, and other reasons.
This year, the district will expand public-private collaboration to assist 109 youth caregivers and children from vulnerable groups through a total of six projects, including living support. In addition to the integrated support project, various programs are included, such as: ▲"Dream Designer," an education program for self-growth and career planning ▲"Dream Wings Club," a professional mentoring program ▲"Achimmeokko," a breakfast program in partnership with schools ▲"What Do You Eat on Weekends," a weekend lunchbox support program.
District Mayor Park Byungkyu stated, "The local community will work together so that youth who have taken on the burden of supporting their families can find time to care for their own lives and move forward toward their future," adding, "We will continue to strengthen the social support system."
