Participation in CHINAPLAS 2025 Booth
Fostering B2B New Business Since 2023
Strengthening Investment in Expanding New Materials Business
LG Electronics has begun expanding its overseas business-to-business (B2B) customer base with its self-developed functional new material, 'LG Purotec.'
On the 15th, LG Electronics announced that it showcased LG Purotec at 'CHINAPLAS 2025,' Asia's largest industrial materials exhibition held in Shenzhen, China. CHINAPLAS is considered one of the world's top three industrial materials exhibitions alongside the NPE in the United States and the K-Show in Germany, attracting over 4,000 companies from more than 150 countries in a large-scale event.
At the exhibition, LG Electronics introduced LG Purotec's antibacterial and antifungal technologies applicable to various product categories such as home appliances, construction materials, medical devices, and clothing, and operated customer experience booths. Purotec is a functional new material added during the manufacturing process of materials like plastic, paint, and rubber to prevent odors, contamination, and discoloration. LG Electronics also prepared a separate meeting space for consultations on customized solutions for B2B customers. The company plans to participate in the K-Show held in D?sseldorf, Germany, this October to strengthen its overseas market penetration in Europe, North America, and other regions.

LG Electronics nurtured Purotec as a B2B new business in 2023 based on research on glass powder, a new material, and its application technology in home appliances. As a result of expanding its business mainly in Asian markets such as China, Vietnam, and India, sales more than doubled last year compared to the previous year. Currently, LG Electronics holds about 420 patents related to glass powder and has production facilities with an annual capacity of 4,500 tons at its Smart Park in Changwon, Gyeongnam. The global functional materials market is estimated to be approximately 18 trillion KRW as of this year.
LG Electronics is also strengthening its research and development (R&D) investment to expand its new materials business. A representative example is 'Marine Glass,' an eco-friendly preservation functional glass material that can be used for marine ecosystem restoration. The company is accelerating the development of new technologies such as eco-friendly laundry materials. Last month, LG Electronics signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with EcoAquafarm, an Atlantic salmon land-based aquaculture company, to promote cooperation in food safety technology. They plan to apply Purotec to improve hygiene environments during aquaculture and processing and help maintain the freshness of salmon.
Baek Seung-tae, Vice President and Head of LG Electronics Kitchen Solutions Division, said, "We will continue to expand the development of new materials and their application fields to meet the diverse needs of global B2B customers and enhance our business competitiveness."
