A man in his 50s who killed five family members, including his parents and wife and children, fled after the crime and attempted suicide but was arrested by the police. The police have completed the suspect's transfer procedures and are reportedly conducting a full-scale investigation.

According to the Yongin Western Police Station in Gyeonggi on the 15th, Mr. A, who is suspected of murder, was urgently arrested and transferred to the Yongin Western Police Station for questioning.

Mr. A is accused of killing five family members at his apartment home in Suji-gu, Yongin City, including his parents in their 80s, his wife in her 50s, and two daughters in their teens and twenties. After the crime, he fled to a villa located in Gwangju Metropolitan City using his own car.

He is also reported to have sent a text message to another family member stating that he intended to kill himself. Upon receiving this message, one of Mr. A’s family members called 119, and the fire department dispatched personnel to the apartment in Suji-gu, Yongin City, forcibly opening the front door.

When firefighters entered the residence at around 9:55 a.m. that day, five people were found murdered inside. The police responded to a joint request from the fire department, controlled the scene, and conducted an investigation.

The police believe Mr. A killed the family members one by one while they were asleep. It is presumed that sleeping pills were used in the crime, and based on circumstantial evidence, the police believe Mr. A committed the crime alone without any accomplices.

At the time of arrest, Mr. A was reportedly in an unclear state of consciousness due to the suicide attempt and was unable to give a statement. He was then transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment, regained consciousness in the afternoon, and was urgently arrested at 2:50 p.m. that day. He was transferred to the Yongin Western Police Station around 8:10 p.m. and is currently under investigation.

So far, the police suspect that Mr. A, who lived alone in a rural area as a weekend commuter and had been working there, committed the crime out of despair over a business failure.

A police official stated, "Since the transfer procedures have been completed, we plan to investigate Mr. A in detail about the method of killing and the motive for the crime. Additionally, an autopsy procedure is underway to determine the exact time and cause of death of the deceased."
