The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 16th that it will hold the 'Korea Tourism Future Forum,' a weekly discussion to explore mid- to long-term innovation plans for the tourism industry, in collaboration with the Korea Tourism Association.
The Ministry plans to hold weekly forums every Thursday for three weeks, divided into three subcommittees: General, Tourism Policy, and Tourism Industry, together with academia and industry. The first General subcommittee forum will be held at 4 p.m. today in the meeting room of the Tourism Future Talent Center. The first forum will discuss the mid- to long-term vision and goals for Korean tourism, followed by the second Tourism Policy subcommittee forum on the 23rd and the third Tourism Industry subcommittee forum on the 30th.
In February, the Ministry announced that it would seek mid- to long-term innovation plans to support the tourism industry along with the launch of the 'Traveling Spring' campaign.
The continuous forums, involving academia including the Korea Tourism Association, related institutions such as the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute, and the tourism industry, will discuss key mid- to long-term policy tasks such as tourism policy goals and vision aligned with changes in the policy environment, innovation in tourism support projects and organizations, legal and institutional improvements, changes and expansion of the tourism industry, innovation of regional tourism systems, and attracting foreign tourists.
After the three subcommittee forums conclude, the Ministry plans to hold the '(tentative name) Korea Tourism Future Forum' in May to present the mid- to long-term vision and goals of Korean tourism policy based on the forum results.
Kim Jeong-hoon, Director of Tourism Policy at the Ministry, stated, "The importance of regional tourism policies to revitalize domestic demand, stabilize livelihoods, and respond to regional extinction is increasing, and structural changes in the tourism industry ecosystem are accelerating due to the convergence and fusion of tourism and the spread of digital technology. The Ministry will discuss the mid- to long-term systemic transformation of tourism policy with academia and industry in this series of forums and actively reflect it in tourism policy formulation."
