The Gyeonggi-do Job Foundation is launching free training programs for skilled workers in five fields, including construction welding.
On the 16th, the foundation announced that as part of training and employment support to cultivate skilled construction workers and enhance their capabilities, it will operate free training courses in the construction skills sector in cooperation with private training institutions within the province.
The training will be conducted at designated specialized training institutions selected through a screening process, covering a total of five courses: construction welding, piping, painting, rebar, and formwork. Each course offers practical skill training along with customized employment support services to strengthen job readiness.
The training targets unemployed residents aged 19 and older living in the province, selecting 15 to 20 trainees per occupation, with all training fees fully covered.
The foundation expects that through this training, unemployed individuals in the construction skills sector within the province will acquire professional skills and gain practical opportunities to enter the construction industry. It is especially anticipated to serve as a foundation for reliably supplying skilled personnel to construction sites, where aging and labor shortages are intensifying.
Lee Jin-hee, Head of the Converged Talent Division at the Gyeonggi-do Job Foundation, said, "Designated as an agency training institution for construction occupations, this training program has distinct advantages compared to the foundation’s directly operated courses. Based on the educational expertise of excellent private training institutions in the province, we will strengthen practical training and employment support."
