Lee Jae-myung Camp Files Complaint Against YouTuber Distributing Deepfake Video of Lee

Complaint to Be Filed with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on the 16th

The election campaign committee of Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party's presidential primary candidate, announced on the 15th that it will file a complaint against the distributor of a deepfake video of the candidate for defamation and violation of the Public Official Election Act.

Former Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung, who is under suspicion of breach of trust in Daejang-dong and bribery related to Seongnam FC, appears attending a trial held at the Seoul Central District Court in Seocho-gu, Seoul on the 15th.

On the morning of the 16th, Lee's campaign plans to submit a complaint to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency against the YouTuber who distributed the deepfake video and hold a press conference at the site.

The campaign stated, "Last week, the Lee Jae-myung primary candidate's campaign committee strongly warned against the distribution of false and manipulated information such as deepfakes," and added, "nevertheless, it has been confirmed that false and manipulated information containing defamatory content against the candidate continues to be distributed through deepfake videos maliciously produced."
