Screening Process to Begin After Registration Deadline
A total of 11 candidates have registered for the People Power Party's presidential primary.
On the 15th, the People Power Party Election Commission announced that former Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Moon-soo, People Power Party lawmakers Na Kyung-won and Ahn Cheol-soo, former Reform New Party lawmaker Yang Hyang-ja, Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok, former Gyeongbuk Governor Lee Cheol-woo, former People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon, and former Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo have registered.
Along with these eight candidates who previously declared their candidacy, three others?former National Assembly candidate Kang Seong-hyun, former Seoyoung University invited professor Kim Min-sook, and former head of publicity at the National Unification Promotion Headquarters Jeong Il-kwon?also applied to participate in the primary.
The People Power Party Election Commission will begin screening after the registration deadline and plans to announce the candidates advancing to the first round of the primary following a full meeting on the 16th.
Additionally, a briefing session for the first-round candidates' representatives will be held to provide information related to the first round of the primary.
