Ahn Sangsoo Solo Exhibition:
"Beyond Wings, Be Enchanted Holiriroda"

Shinsegae Department Store announced on the 16th that it will present an exhibition showcasing the visual beauty of Hangul in collaboration with master Hangul designer Ahn Sangsoo at Shinsegae Gallery Cheongdam, located on the B1 floor of Boon the Shop.
Ahn Sangsoo, known as the creator of the so-called 'Ahn Sangsoo font,' is regarded as a pioneer in Hangul design who expanded the work of visually designing characters and typefaces?known as 'typography'?into the realm of art.
The exhibition, titled "Ahn Sangsoo Solo Exhibition: Beyond Wings, Be Enchanted Holiriroda," running until June 21, introduces works imbued with the artist’s experimental spirit inspired by the world of works of Lee Sang, an experimental poet representing modern Korean literature.
Key works include the transformed piece "Pattern (2025)," themed around the literary figure Lee Sang, and "Hangul Dokkaebi (2025)," a modern reinterpretation of the traditional Korean goblin by combining the consonants 'ㅎ' and 'ㅇ' into human-like forms.
In addition, the exhibition features over 70 works that break the boundaries between text and image, ranging from paintings such as "Be Enchanted" and "From Alpha to Hieut" to media installation art, all expressing the visual art of Hangul forms with the artist’s distinctive style.
On the first floor of Boon the Shop, Case Study offers various art goods linked to the exhibition so that customers can continue to feel the lingering impression of the exhibition in their daily lives after viewing the artworks. Representative products include the "Lee Sang Pattern T-shirt," "Lee Sang Face Book Bag," and "Wing Pattern Book Cover."
The Apgujeong and Cheongdam areas, where Shinsegae Department Store’s own curated shop Boon the Shop is located, are Seoul’s premier luxury shopping districts and have recently emerged as must-visit destinations for foreign tourists. Last year, the number of foreign visitors to Boon the Shop Cheongdam increased by 40% compared to the previous year, and membership sign-ups rose by 34%.
