Korea Asset Management Corporation (KAMCO) announced on the 15th that it has selected table tennis national team player Shin Yu-bin as the advertising model for this year’s Small Business and Self-Employed New Start Fund.
KAMCO stated that Shin Yu-bin’s growth story, having been selected as a national table tennis player without giving up until the end, resonated well with small business owners and self-employed individuals preparing for a "new beginning, not an end" despite difficult business conditions, which led to her selection.
The New Start Fund campaign, featuring Shin Yu-bin’s supportive message for small business owners and the self-employed, has been broadcast on terrestrial TV since this month. A radio campaign, with Shin Yu-bin personally participating in the recording, is also underway.
Meanwhile, since the 27th of last month, the New Start Fund has expanded its support targets to include small business owners and self-employed individuals who have operated businesses from April 2020 to November 2024. Support has also been expanded to include immediate release of public information for those who have completed employment and startup programs from the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and have achieved actual success.
A representative of the New Start Fund said, "We hope that this video advertisement featuring Shin Yu-bin will deliver a message of hope and encouragement to small business owners·and the self-employed," adding, "As the support targets of the New Start Fund have expanded, we plan to actively promote so that anyone facing difficulties can feel that the government will help."
Meanwhile, the New Start Fund is a debt adjustment program that helps small business owners and self-employed individuals struggling with debt repayment to recover credit and restart their businesses. It supports suspension of collection, extension of repayment periods, interest rate reductions, and principal adjustments for distressed borrowers or those at risk among individual business owners or corporate small business owners.
