Active Implementation of Tax Justice
Support Measures for Delinquent Taxpayers in the Welfare Blind Spot
Gijang-gun (Governor Jung Jongbok) announced on the 15th that it will conduct the '2025 Local Tax Delinquent Status Survey' from April to December.
This survey has been prepared to promote systematic and efficient management of local tax delinquencies and to support livelihood-based delinquents who are in the welfare blind spot.
The subjects of the survey are those who have overdue local taxes after reminders and final notices, and require actions such as delinquency disposition, deferment of collection, or post-management.
The survey will be conducted through various methods such as written communication, phone calls, and on-site visits, utilizing the Local Tax Integrated Information Network. The county will closely analyze the causes of delinquency and the economic situation, and based on this, establish and implement customized collection strategies.
For delinquents, not only will delinquency notices be sent, but detailed guidance on the amount owed and payment methods will be provided through phone calls, visits, and KakaoTalk notifications. In addition, the county will promptly proceed with seizure and public sale of real estate and vehicles, as well as seizure and collection of financial assets such as deposits, salaries, and virtual assets, to enhance the effectiveness of tax collection.
For delinquent corporations, the county will determine whether there are major shareholders and notify them as secondary taxpayers. Strong measures such as asset tracking and home searches will be taken for hidden assets. If there is suspicion of evasion of delinquency disposition, legal actions such as filing civil lawsuits and reporting criminal cases will also be pursued.
For livelihood-based delinquents, Gijang-gun will encourage installment payments considering their payment capacity. In particular, if a household is identified as being in a welfare blind spot, the county plans to work with the welfare department to ensure that the delinquent receives care within the community and is supported to recover economically.
Jung Jongbok, Governor of Gijang-gun, stated, "This survey focuses on realizing tax justice while also identifying and supporting residents in the welfare blind spot," and added, "Through this, we aim to achieve both the expansion of independent financial resources and the realization of warm local administration."
