The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Waterworks and Sewerage Headquarters (Director Jwa Jaebong) held the second "Clean Plogging Run" on the 15th, together with about 40 members of the Bomok Fishing Village Association along the coast near the Bomok Sewage Treatment Plant in Seogwipo and on Olle Trail Route 6.
This event was part of a year-round environmental cleanup program promoted by the Waterworks and Sewerage Headquarters to create a clean environment around sewage treatment facilities in the province and to foster coexistence with the local community.
The Jeju Waterworks and Sewerage Headquarters is operating customized programs for each season, such as environmental cleanups in preparation for the rainy season, collecting marine debris, and maintaining Olle Trails, by touring the eight sewage treatment plants in the province and considering each plant's characteristics and seasonal factors.
Following the first event held last month on the 19th with local residents at Dodu Sasu Port near the Jeju Sewage Treatment Plant, this event also gained significance with the participation of local residents.
Employees of the Waterworks and Sewerage Headquarters and members of the Bomok Fishing Village Association who participated in the activity shared that "it was a meaningful time to directly take part in caring for the local environment," and expressed their intention to continue actively participating in efforts to protect the marine environment.
Jwa Jaebong, Director of the Jeju Waterworks and Sewerage Headquarters, said, "Through the year-round Clean Plogging Run, we are creating a cleaner environment together with residents living near sewage treatment plants," and added, "We will continue to work with the local community to protect Jeju's pristine environment."
