The 64th Jeonnam Provincial Sports Festival, held in Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, will take place over four days from the 18th to the 21st. Around 20,000 people, including athletes, officials, and spectators participating in 23 events, are expected to visit Jangseong.

On the morning of the 17th, a day before the opening, the torch-lighting ceremony marking the start of the festival will be held at the Gukgidan in Baegamsan, Jangseong. Conducted in a traditional Confucian ritual format, the event is organized by the Jangseong Cultural Center, with County Governor Kim Han-jong and others participating as chief and secondary officiants.

The lit torch will begin its relay with Yoon Siseok, president of the Jangseong Sports Council, passing through Ssanggye-ru and traveling to 11 towns and villages. The relay, involving a total of 222 participants, reflects the local character with segments such as the 'Jangseongho Lake Water Relay,' 'Pillam Seowon Confucian Scholar Relay,' and 'Sangmu Base In-Camp Relay.'

On the 18th at 2 p.m., the torch will depart from the Hwangryonggang Flower Road and arrive at Yellow City Stadium, heightening the excitement of the opening ceremony. Pre-ceremony performances will include the Jangseong Youth Musical Club 'Harang,' as well as gayageum and daegeum performances. The torch lighting will be carried out by Kim Yongyul, the fencing coach at Jeonnam Provincial Office and a native of Jangseong.

The celebration concert will feature famous singers such as Kim Yeonja, Lyn, Jeong Dongwon, and Son Hoyoung and Kim Taewoo of god. For the first time in the history of the Jeonnam Sports Festival, a 'multimedia drone show' will also be presented.

In the vicinity of the event venue, various side events such as the 'AI Sports Festival Four-Cut Photo Booth,' cypress product making, calligraphy experience, and an agricultural specialty products promotion hall will be available to enhance the visitor experience.

The county has completed maintenance of sports equipment and convenience facilities at the stadiums and has strengthened support for each sports team. Except for bowling (Hwasun) and shooting (Naju), all competitions will be held in Jangseong. The closing ceremony is scheduled for 3 p.m. on the 21st at Hong Gil-dong Gymnasium.

Governor Kim stated, "Through this festival, we aim to enhance the pride of our residents and elevate Jangseong as the center of Jeonnam," adding, "We look forward to a festival of unity that everyone in the province can enjoy together."
