The tournament organizing committee announced on the 15th that Choi Seung-bin and Chris Kim (England), who set the youngest cut passing record last year, will participate as sponsor-invited players. Choi Seung-bin, a former national team reserve, won the 2023 Korea Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) Championship and has challenged the PGA Tour Qualifying (Q) School every year since 2022. He said, "It has been my dream to play on the PGA Tour since I was young, and I am excited to compete on a big stage through The CJ Cup," adding, "I am very much looking forward to the opportunity to compete directly with world-class players, and I will prepare thoroughly during the remaining period to achieve good results."
Chris Kim, born in 2007, is making his second consecutive appearance following last year. He won the 2023 R&A Boys Amateur Championship and represented Europe in the Junior Ryder Cup. Last year, at this tournament, at the age of 16 years and 7 months, he broke the tournament's youngest cut passing record set by Jordan Spieth (USA), who was world number one, by 3 months in 2010.
The CJ Cup Byron Nelson will be held for four days starting May 1 (local time) at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas, USA. World number one Scottie Scheffler (USA) will participate in this tournament. Most Korean players active on the PGA Tour, including Im Sung-jae, An Byeong-hun, Kim Si-woo, and Lee Kyung-hoon, will also participate.
