A Simple Method: Just Insert Your Head into the Device
Average Cost per Session is About 3,700 Won
An 'AI Shampoo Specialty Store' where artificial intelligence (AI) washes hair has appeared in Guangzhou, China.
According to local Chinese media such as Guangzhou Daily and Guangming.com on the 15th, stores using AI devices to wash hair have recently appeared throughout the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou.
The simple method works by the customer lying on a massage bed and putting their head into the device. After checking the customer's scalp condition using the device and selecting either shampoo for oily or dry scalp, the hair is automatically washed.
With infrared sensing functionality, the device adjusts the water spray position to clean the scalp and hair. The intensity is divided into three levels: low, medium, and high. Depending on hair length, customers can also choose between long and short modes. The media reported that "the process includes 2 shampoos, 1 treatment, and 7 rinses, taking a total of 13 minutes."
The store has five shampoo machines and three staff members. The staff use the devices to check customers' scalp health. They also prepare towels and earplugs, adjust water temperature and pressure, and assist with the pre- and post-shampoo processes.
The cost was 9.9 yuan (about 1,900 won) during the initial promotional period, but media report that it is currently around 19 yuan (about 3,700 won) per session on average.
An employee who stated they have been working at the store since December last year told Guangming.com, "During peak season, about 100 customers visit daily," adding, "These days, an average of 30 to 40 people visit per day." They also said, "The AI Shampoo Specialty Store seems to effectively solve the labor shortage problem."
