Korea Racing Authority Releases Documentary on Challenge at the Dream Stage 'Dubai World Cup'

Broadcast of "National Representative Horse Global Hit Surpasses Its Limits" on KBS N Sports at Midnight on the 18th
A Spotlight on the Growth Story of the Racehorse and Team Challenging the "Stage of Dreams," the Dubai World Cup

"Who can say that horse racing is not a sport? The shining moments written by Global Hit"

On the night of the 18th at midnight, the sports channel KBS N Sports will air a documentary following the journey of the Korean racehorse Global Hit, known as a racing champion, and jockey Kim Hyesun at the Dubai International Horse Racing Competition.

Titled "National Representative Horse Global Hit Surpasses Its Limits," this broadcast is the first sports documentary in the field of horse racing to be aired in Korea. Broadcasting a horse racing documentary is highly unusual in Korea, where horse racing is often regarded as taboo and subject to regulations. This is because the efforts and processes of representing the nation in a particular field carry significant meaning.

Global Hit, the racehorse representing Korea on the international stage, dominated the domestic horse racing competitions in 2024 and rose to the position of champion, becoming the best Korean-bred racehorse. Produced and owned by breeder-owner Kim Junhyun, Global Hit overcame a congenital leg handicap and has recorded 10 wins out of 17 races to date, earning about 3.8 billion KRW. Despite ups and downs, together with jockey Kim Hyesun, known as the perfect duo, they have proven that their success is not due to luck but skill in every race.

The Dubai World Cup, which served as both the overseas stage for Global Hit and the background for the broadcast, is one of the horse racing competitions with the highest prize money in the world. The winning horse and owner of the Dubai World Cup receive tens of billions in prize money and international fame, and the champion horse is recognized for its value as a stallion comparable to a goose that lays golden eggs. For those in the horse racing industry, the Dubai World Cup is called the "stage of dreams."

This broadcast covers not only the racehorse and jockey but also the owner, trainer, caretaker, Dubai officials, and horse racing fans, sharing the stories of those in the industry who dream of winning the "stage of dreams" at the Dubai World Cup. It reveals their intense behind-the-scenes stories, race scenes, and the heated atmosphere at the venue that many people were unaware of.

In particular, the documentary features the realization of the high barriers of the international stage during the first race abroad, and the relentless local training and efforts by the team to adapt the horse to a different environment, including interviews with those involved. It also follows the journey of growth as they achieved a surprising third place in the second race, surpassing top-tier racehorses.

Um Youngseok, head of the Busan-Gyeongnam Regional Headquarters of the Korea Racing Authority, said, "I am pleased that through this documentary, we can share the genuine stories and efforts of those in the horse racing industry with many people," and added, "I hope that, like the Dubai World Cup and other world-class international horse racing competitions, Korean horse racing will also become a festival enjoyed by the entire nation."

The Korea Racing Authority is holding a broadcast viewing certification event through its official YouTube KRBC channel. The event can be entered through the official YouTube channel community until the 27th. Selected participants by lottery will receive a framed horseshoe actually worn by Global Hit in Dubai and Starbucks gift certificates, among other prizes.
