Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon will revisit the accident site of the Gwangmyeong Sinansan Line (372-11 Iljik-dong, Gwangmyeong-si) at around 1:20 PM on the 15th. Governor Kim visited the accident site immediately after returning to Korea through Incheon Airport following a business trip to the United States on the 12th.
A Gyeonggi Province official stated, "We understand that Governor Kim is taking time to visit in order to inspect the rescue operations and the situation at the accident site."

Earlier, on the morning of the 13th at around 10 AM, Gwangmyeong City held a joint meeting with Gyeonggi Province, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Korea Rail Network Authority, and POSCO E&C (the construction company) to discuss the possibility of collapse. Following this, at around 11 AM on the same day, the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters held a situation assessment meeting and decided to evacuate 12 households totaling 38 residents within a 50-meter radius of the accident site.
The collapse accident occurred on the afternoon of the 11th at 3:13 PM inside the underground tunnel of Section 5-2 of the Sinansan double-track railway line, constructed by POSCO E&C, when a crack appeared in a pillar.
