Registration at the Dementia Safety Center Required for Support, Regardless of Long-Term Care Insurance Grade
Patient or Caregiver Can Register... "Registration Is the First Step in Dementia Management"
Cheorwon-gun, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Lee Hyun-jong) announced on the 15th that the Cheorwon-gun Public Health Center Dementia Safety Center is encouraging the registration of elderly individuals diagnosed with dementia through medical institutions.
Once diagnosed with dementia and registered at the Dementia Safety Center, elderly dementia patients can receive support such as customized case management, public guardianship, linkage to dementia patient respite programs, dementia treatment management fees (up to 30,000 KRW per month), missing person prevention projects (ID tags, fingerprint registration, wandering detection devices), and care supplies (hygiene products). Regardless of whether they have a long-term care insurance grade, dementia patients must register at the Dementia Safety Center to receive support.
Additionally, among dementia patients, those in care blind spots or with physical, psychological, social, or environmental needs are evaluated and, after review by the project management committee, selected as customized case management targets. Three dedicated case managers visit these households one-on-one to provide health management (medication guidance), home safety management, and community resource linkage (installation of gas safety shut-off timers), among other services.
Furthermore, to alleviate the burden on families and caregivers of dementia patients, care burden analysis is conducted, and family classes, self-help groups, and healing programs are provided.
Park Jeong-soon, Director of Disease Control at Cheorwon-gun, stated, “The most important first step to creating a happy Cheorwon-gun free from worries about dementia is the registration of dementia patients.” He added, “We will create a Cheorwon-gun where dementia patients, their families, and caregivers can feel at ease by providing dementia patient registration management and services through the Dementia Safety Center.”
Meanwhile, dementia patient registration and service applications can be made by the patient or their caregiver, and for further details, inquiries can be directed to each local Dementia Safety Center.
