Kick-off Briefing Held for Development and Implementation Plan of Salmon Aquaculture Specialized Complex
Linking Processing, Equipment, and R&D Functions... Establishment of a Multi-functional Cluster
Pohang City has officially begun the administrative procedures to develop the site behind the 'Salmon Smart Aquaculture Cluster Project' into a specialized complex, aiming to lead innovation in the domestic salmon industry.
The city held a kick-off briefing session for the 'Development and Implementation Plan for the Salmon Aquaculture Specialized Complex' on the 14th in the small conference room at City Hall.
The briefing was attended by Son Jeongho, Director of the Marine and Fisheries Bureau, as well as officials from Pohang City's Fisheries Policy Division, Urban Planning Division, Gyeongbuk Province's Marine and Fisheries Division, and representatives from related organizations and service providers including Mirae Aquafarm, Sam An, Youngin ITS, Hando, and Hanmaek.
The session began with presentations on the background, plans, and detailed schedule of the project, followed by an exchange of opinions among relevant departments and organizations, and discussions on major issues.
This service aims to establish a systematic development plan for the nation's first salmon aquaculture specialized complex, and will involve comprehensive analysis and strategy development for the approximately 224,140 square meter site in Geumgok-ri, Janggi-myeon, Nam-gu, Pohang City.
In particular, the briefing included analysis of the site's conditions, land use planning, infrastructure improvement measures, review of the procedures for designation and development of the industrial complex, identification of licensing and permit issues, and strategies to minimize environmental and disaster impacts as key agenda items.
Son Jeongho, Director of the Marine and Fisheries Bureau, stated, "With this kick-off briefing, we are now embarking in earnest on establishing concrete action plans to foster the salmon industry based on smart aquaculture," adding, "We will do our utmost to make Pohang the center of advanced aquaculture industry and contribute to revitalizing the local economy."
Pohang City plans to develop the salmon aquaculture specialized complex as a multi-functional cluster centered on smart aquaculture facilities, linking processing, equipment, and research and development (R&D) functions.
Based on the results of this service, the city will sequentially proceed with follow-up administrative steps such as designation of the industrial complex and approval of the implementation plan, with the goal of commencing construction as soon as possible.
