Preferential Commission Rates and Currency Exchange Benefits for US, China, Hong Kong, and Japan Stocks
Shinhan Investment Corp. announced on the 15th that it will launch a stock and options trading commission benefit event for overseas stock investors.
Accordingly, customers who wish to trade overseas stocks from the US, China, Hong Kong, and Japan online will receive preferential trading commission rates for one year. In this case, only country-specific additional fees will apply. For the US, there is a Securities and Exchange Commission trading fee (SEC Fee) of 0.00278% on sales; for China, 0.00841% on purchases and 0.05841% on sales; for Hong Kong, 0.1085% on both purchases and sales; and none for Japan.
Along with this, a 95% preferential rate on currency exchange fees for the four countries' currencies will also be provided for one year. This applies to customers who opened an account with Shinhan Investment Corp. for the first time after April 1 of this year or dormant customers who have not traded overseas stocks this year. The event application period is until June 30.
For customers opening an account with Shinhan Investment Corp. for the first time, there is also an ongoing event where they can receive US stocks worth up to 30,000 KRW. Minors are also eligible to participate in the event and can choose one stock from six options including Google (Alphabet A), Nvidia, Microsoft (MS), Apple, Tesla, and AMD.
Han Il-hyun, Head of the Platform Business Division at Shinhan Investment Corp., said, "Through this event, we aim to lower the barriers for customers' global investments and support expanding their investment experience in overseas markets."
Meanwhile, Shinhan Investment Corp. is currently offering a free overseas stock capital gains tax filing service for customers whose overseas stock trading gains exceed 2.5 million KRW in 2024. Shinhan Investment Corp. customers can apply until 5 PM on the 28th.
