Up to 10 Million KRW Coverage for Death, Hospitalization, Burns, and Fractures
for Registered Disabled Youth Aged 9 to 24 in Yeongdeungpo-gu
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it has enrolled in a 'Group Accident Insurance' to prepare for various safety accidents and alleviate the economic burden for disabled youth in the area.
As of April 1 this year, support is provided to registered disabled individuals aged 9 to 24 who are registered residents of the district, helping growing disabled youth with high activity levels to safely participate in social activities as members of society.
The coverage period is one year starting from April 1, 2025, and eligibility is automatically lost if the individual moves to another region.
The coverage details include ▲ up to 10 million KRW in case of death due to injury ▲ up to 10 million KRW for permanent disability caused by injury ▲ 10,000 KRW per day (up to 180 days) for hospitalization due to injury ▲ 300,000 KRW for burn surgery ▲ 200,000 KRW for fracture surgery. Injury coverage can overlap with other insurance policies. However, death coverage due to injury is excluded for registered disabled persons under 15 years old with intellectual, autism, brain lesion, or epilepsy disabilities according to relevant laws. For more details, inquiries can be made to the Senior and Disabled Affairs Division of the district office.
Additionally, since 2023, the district has been supporting enrollment in 'Electric Mobility Aid Safety Insurance' to stabilize the lives of disabled residents. All residents using electric mobility aids are eligible without a separate enrollment procedure, and coverage provides up to 50 million KRW in case of damage caused to people or property during operation of the electric mobility aid.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, "We will strive to ensure that disabled youth grow up healthily in a safe environment and participate in various activities," adding, "We will do our best to create a Yeongdeungpo-gu where everyone is happy without exclusion."
