Actor Park Bo-gum has been selected as a Hallyu cultural artist for the '2025 Hanbok Wave' project. Park Bo-gum will work with four domestic hanbok brands to promote the dignity and elegance of hanbok to the world.

'Hanbok Wave' is a project developed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the Korea Craft & Design Foundation (KCDF) to develop hanbok companies and hanbok products with potential and technology, now in its sixth year. To enhance the effect of promoting the unique beauty of hanbok worldwide, the Ministry selects a Hallyu cultural artist each year to support promotional activities. In 2022, former figure skater Kim Yuna, in 2023, actress and singer Suzy, and last year, actress Kim Tae-ri helped introduce the unique beauty of hanbok to the world.

This year, they are collaborating with actor Park Bo-gum, who sparked a global sensation with the Netflix drama 'Poksak Soksassuda'. While the project previously focused mainly on women's hanbok, this year marks the first time a male solo cultural artist has been selected, emphasizing the expandability and diversity of hanbok.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is calling for companies to propose new possibilities for men's hanbok inspired by Park Bo-gum until May 9. Four companies will be selected from small and medium-sized enterprises in the hanbok field based on creativity, expertise, feasibility, and expected impact. The selected companies will develop hanbok designs reflecting Park Bo-gum's image and symbolism, and the developed hanbok will be showcased on billboards and in famous fashion magazines in major cities worldwide such as Seoul, New York, Paris, and Milan. Detailed information about the call for proposals can be found on the websites of the Ministry and the KCDF.

Lee Jung-woo, Director of Cultural Arts Policy at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated, "With the recent global spread of K-content, interest in hanbok is increasing, and overseas fans who have encountered hanbok through dramas, variety shows, and international events continue to respond positively. We hope that through hanbok content harmoniously blending traditional beauty and modern sensibility with Hallyu cultural artists, hanbok will approach the world as a representative Korean cultural heritage and an attractive content that everyone can enjoy."
