Daegu Police Chief Lee Seunghyup Awards Officers for Outstanding Voice Phishing Prevention

"Active On-Site Response Prevents Voice Phishing Damage"

Lee Seunghyup, Chief of the Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency (Senior Superintendent General), presented commendation certificates to six police officers at the meeting room on the 7th floor of the Daegu Police Agency on the 14th, recognizing their efforts in preventing and apprehending voice phishing crimes and encouraging their hard work.

This award was given in recognition of the officers' persistent questioning and persuasion, which enabled the victims to realize the crime and prevented significant financial losses in advance, even in difficult situations where victims, brainwashed by suspects at the scene of voice phishing crimes, made false statements or showed uncooperative attitudes.

Sergeant Jeong Haecheol of the Wolbae Police Box at the Dalseo Police Station, who received the commendation, stated, "At the time of the report, the victim did not trust the police at all and was completely deceived by the phishing criminal, but calmly responding as I was trained greatly helped prevent the damage."

Chief Lee Seunghyup said, "As voice phishing crimes are becoming increasingly sophisticated, we conducted special training focusing on the latest criminal methods, victim psychology, and key points to check at the scene. This award is a case where the effects of such training and the proactive response of the officers have borne fruit. We will continue to further strengthen our on-site response capabilities in the future."

The Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency plans to further intensify its prevention and enforcement activities to protect the valuable assets of citizens.
