On the 14th, ahead of a special lecture held at Myongji University in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, Yoo told reporters when asked about his presidential bid, "What I am contemplating is how to reform our politics and how to properly rebuild the collapsed conservative camp," adding, "I will think more deeply and inform the public once I have made a decision."
When asked if he intended to run as a third-way candidate or as an independent, he replied, "I have not yet made a firm decision," and said, "I am deeply considering it from a blank slate."
Regarding Floor Leader Kwon Seong-dong’s remark criticizing him for raising issues about the 'reverse selection prevention clause,' saying, "It is wrong to insist on setting primary rules in violation of the party constitution and regulations," Yoo pointed out, "That party constitution and regulations were changed within four days in December 2022 by a single word from former President Yoon Seok-youl."
Earlier, Yoo had demanded a 'complete national primary' where 100% of the candidate selection would be based on public opinion polls. However, when the primary rules were decided to include a 'reverse selection prevention' clause and apply a 50% party member vote and 50% public opinion poll in the second round, he declared he would not participate in the primary.
