On the 13th (local time), after the conclusion of the 89th Masters Tournament (total prize money $21 million) held at Augusta National Golf Club (par 72, 7,555 yards) in Augusta, Georgia, USA, Woods posted on social media congratulating the winner McIlroy, saying, "Welcome to the career Grand Slam club," and added, "Completing the Grand Slam at Augusta is truly a special achievement."

McIlroy clinched the title at the Masters by edging out Justin Rose (England) in a playoff. He became the new owner of the career Grand Slam for the first time in 25 years since Woods in 2000. He is the sixth player in history to achieve the Grand Slam, following Gene Sarazen and Ben Hogan (both USA), Gary Player (South Africa), Jack Nicklaus (USA), and Woods.

Woods said, "Your determination shown in this round and throughout the entire journey was truly remarkable," and added, "You are now part of history. I am really proud of you." Gary Player, another Grand Slam winner who has won the Masters three times, also stated, "I sincerely congratulate McIlroy on his historic Masters victory and completion of the Grand Slam. I am proud to welcome him into our special club."
