Creating a Warm Local Community Where Everyone Lives Together

Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (hereinafter referred to as the Authority, President Park Sunghyun) announced that on the 12th, in celebration of the 45th Day of Persons with Disabilities, it participated in the '3rd Gwangyang City Turtle Marathon' held at Baegun Greenland in Gwangyang, spending time communicating with people with disabilities in the local community.

Marking its third year, the Turtle Marathon was hosted by the Gwangyang Jungma Welfare Center for the Disabled (Director Jung Heonju), with sponsorship from the Authority and the POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation. Under the slogan "Valuable and Happy Steps Together," a total of about 600 local residents, including people with disabilities, participated, fostering communication and harmony.

The Authority has continued its sponsorship of this event for three consecutive years, and the YGPA Port Love Volunteer Group, consisting of President Park Sunghyun and employees, has participated every year as well.

Employees who joined the event spent meaningful time with their matched partners with disabilities, taking part in various activities such as experience booths and celebratory performances, and walking the 2km marathon course together as one.

President Park Sunghyun stated, "It was very meaningful to be able to practice the values of communication and harmony with people with disabilities in the local community in celebration of the Day of Persons with Disabilities," and added, "We will continue to actively support the creation of a warm local community where people with and without disabilities live together, while improving awareness of disabilities."

Meanwhile, the Authority has been supporting various customized programs for local people with disabilities, not only for health maintenance but also to encourage social participation and independence, such as the 'Gwangyang City Turtle Marathon,' 'Bowling and Our Path Beautiful Steps Healing Program,' 'Developmental Disabilities Barista Training Program,' and 'Hope Bridge Project for Children with Special Disabilities.'
