Dongducheon-si Actively Pursues Hosting the 'Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly Legislative Training Institute'

Dongducheon City Council Joins the Bid... "We Will Secure the Center No Matter What"

Dongducheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Park Hyung-deok) announced on the 14th that it has entered the competition by submitting an application for the 'Gyeonggi Provincial Council Legislative Training Center Site Attraction Contest' promoted by the Gyeonggi Provincial Council on March 31.

In line with this, the Dongducheon City Council unanimously adopted a resolution urging the attraction of the Legislative Training Center at the 337th extraordinary session held on the 7th, strongly conveying the necessity of attracting the center to Dongducheon City to the Gyeonggi Provincial Council.

Dongducheon City explained the necessity of attracting the Gyeonggi Provincial Council Legislative Training Center to Dongducheon as follows.

First, the planned construction site is located at the foot of Soyosan Mountain, which is one of the top 100 famous mountains in Korea selected by the Korea Forest Service. It is easy to link with the Soyosan expansion development project, offering excellent connectivity with tourism resources and surrounding green spaces and parks.

Second, it is a transportation hub adjacent to Subway Line 1 and National Road No. 3, and the extension of the GTX-C line is also being promoted, providing excellent accessibility from all areas of the metropolitan area.

Third, all related procedures such as urban planning have already been completed, enabling immediate project implementation, and it is adjacent to unreleased U.S. military concession land, which is advantageous for additional expansion.

Fourth, as a border security city for over 74 years, attracting the Gyeonggi Provincial Council Legislative Training Center is necessary to address regional imbalance by overcoming various regulations and development restrictions, and as compensation for the special sacrifices made so far.

A Dongducheon City official said, "Attracting the Gyeonggi Provincial Council Legislative Training Center is urgent to overcome the difficulties of Dongducheon City caused by over 74 years of security sacrifices and overlapping regulations. The attraction of the training center will be a turning point for revitalizing the local economy and balanced regional development," adding, "We will actively express this necessity to the Gyeonggi Provincial Council and ensure success in attracting the center."

Dongducheon City plans to respond actively during the upcoming on-site inspections and final site selection process, putting all efforts into attracting the Legislative Training Center.
