The North Gyeongsang Provincial Council (Chairman Park Seongman) will begin its legislative activities with a 15-day session from the 15th to the 29th.
During this temporary session, the council will review and process agenda items such as provincial government questions, the 2nd supplementary budget proposal for North Gyeongsang Province, the 1st supplementary budget proposal for the North Gyeongsang Provincial Education Special Account, and various ordinances related to public welfare.
At the 1st plenary session on the 15th, Jung Younggil (Seongju), who was elected in the by-election on the 2nd, will attend for the first time, take the oath of office, and officially begin his legislative activities for the welfare of the residents.
On this day, three council members?Park Changwook (Bonghwa), Choi Deokgyu (Gyeongju), and Park Seungjik (Gyeongju)?will raise questions on provincial administration, examining current issues and problems across provincial and educational administration and presenting policy alternatives.
Council member Park Changwook will ask about practical alternatives for the sustainable operation of Bonghwa Seokpo Smelter, measures to address the infringement of mobility rights for residents in transportation-vulnerable areas due to reduced intercity bus routes, and effective measures to bridge the educational gap between urban and rural areas. Council member Choi Deokgyu will question the closure of Ipsil Station on the Donghae Nambu Line, the expansion of Solgeo Art Museum, and the management of shared property by the North Gyeongsang Provincial Office of Education.
Council member Park Seungjik will inquire about the preparations for APEC, the Daechon and Hyeongsan River environmental maintenance projects, and measures to prevent major disaster safety accidents by the Office of Education.
Additionally, Kim Hakhong, Vice Governor of North Gyeongsang Province, and Lim Jongsik, Superintendent of North Gyeongsang Provincial Office of Education, will deliver proposal explanations regarding the necessity and the scale of the 2025 supplementary budgets for North Gyeongsang Province and the North Gyeongsang Provincial Education Special Account.
The 2nd plenary session will be convened on the 29th, after which there will be five-minute free speeches, and then the council plans to process and close the session with agenda items such as the supplementary budgets for North Gyeongsang Province and the Provincial Office of Education, as well as ordinances reviewed by the committees during this session.
Chairman Park Seongman stated in his opening remarks, "Many wildfire victims are still suffering," and urged, "Let us wisely overcome this difficult time with the united strength of the people of North Gyeongsang. Since this supplementary budget was formulated under challenging financial conditions, I ask that you do your utmost to ensure efficient resource allocation based on thorough and meticulous budget reviews."
