The Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety (KINS) announced on the 14th that Lim Seung-cheol, former Secretary General of the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission, has been appointed as the 14th president. His term will last until April 13, 2028.

Newly appointed President Lim Seung-cheol graduated from the Department of Nuclear Engineering at Seoul National University and earned a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). He has served as Minister at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Austria and Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna, Director of the Exhibition and Research Division at the National Science Museum, and Standing Commissioner and Secretary General of the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission.

At the inauguration ceremony, President Lim emphasized, "Efficient work execution and the establishment of an ethical and transparent institutional culture will guarantee the sustainable development of KINS." He highlighted the rationalization of work systems considering the role of KINS as a nuclear safety regulatory expert organization, systems that enable employees to realize their potential and capabilities, and improvements in communication methods regarding regulatory outcomes.

The Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety, under the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission, is a specialized nuclear safety regulatory agency established in February 1990 with the purpose of protecting the public from radiation hazards arising from nuclear production and use, and contributing to public safety and environmental preservation.
