Group The Boyz's Sunwoo (real name Kim Sunwoo) apologized, expressing regret over his behavior towards a bodyguard that sparked controversy, and stated that he will take legal action against malicious comments.
The Boyz's agency, One Hundred, released a statement on the 14th saying, "We are well aware of the recent controversy involving Sunwoo in the media and various communities," and "We deeply apologize for failing to properly manage issues related to our artist's character."
They continued, "We regret not managing the situation more proactively before this incident occurred and the artist's reckless behavior," and "We will do our best to ensure that such negligence does not happen again through communication with our artists," offering another apology.
However, the agency stated, "We are saddened that the situation is unfolding differently from the direction of reflection by the company and the singer. The baseless malicious comments related to this incident cannot be ignored in order to protect the artist," and announced that they are preparing for legal action.
Recently, a video was posted on an online community showing Sunwoo dropping one side of his wireless earphones (AirPods) while moving, not picking it up, and shouting "My AirPods." In the video, the bodyguard picked up the earphone and handed it to Sunwoo with both hands, but Sunwoo received it with one hand without any greeting, sparking controversy over his character.
The video gained many views online and became a hot topic, with singer Nana commenting on the video, "You should be scolded," pointing out the mistake.
Sunwoo explained through a fan communication platform, "I watched the video and saw that I appeared rude by not greeting," and "While receiving it, I did not bow my head but said 'Thank you.'"
