Only a 500,000 Won Deposit and Utility Fees Required
Support Includes Shared Spaces and Psychological Counseling
Gwangsan-gu in Gwangju announced on the 14th that it has opened 'Cheongnyeon On-ga,' a residential support space to help young people become self-reliant. By the 18th, a total of 20 young people will move into their new homes.
Cheongnyeon On-ga is an apartment complex established through an agreement with Gwangju Urban Corporation in 2023. Its name combines the Jeolla dialect phrase 'On-ga?' (meaning 'Have you come?') and the idea of 'a house that delivers warmth to young people.' Gwangsan-gu aims to reduce housing costs and support stable independent living for young residents through this space.
The four-story building has a total of 20 units. Residents are only required to pay a deposit of 500,000 won and utility fees, while the rent is fully covered by Gwangsan-gu. Each unit is equipped with basic living facilities such as an air conditioner, bed, refrigerator, bathroom, and induction stove.
The shared spaces are also noteworthy. The first floor features an unmanned cafe and lounge, the second and third floors have laundry rooms and lounges, and the fourth floor offers a shared kitchen, enriching the daily lives of young residents.
Gwangsan-gu plans to operate various programs to help residents settle into society, going beyond simply providing housing. These include practical support such as job and entrepreneurship education, information services, connections with related organizations, and individual psychological counseling.
Park Byungkyu, the head of Gwangsan-gu, said, "Cheongnyeon On-ga will be more than just a place to stay; it will be a foundation for sharing hearts and preparing for life," adding, "We will continue to provide comprehensive support so that the young generation can nurture their dreams within the community."
