Maritime Safety Campaign Using Digital Leaflets
Gunsan Regional VTS Promotes Accident Prevention with QR Codes
The West Sea Regional Coast Guard Headquarters (Chief Lee Myungjun) announced on the 14th that the Gunsan Regional Vessel Traffic Service Center (VTS) will launch a maritime safety campaign using digital leaflets to proactively prevent maritime accidents.
The maritime safety campaign using digital leaflets is being conducted so that vessel operators and VTS users can easily grasp the current status of maritime accidents and raise awareness about accident prevention through QR codes. On the 7th, Gunsan Regional VTS visited organizations such as the Gunsan Tug and Barge Association to promote the maritime safety campaign.
An official from the Gunsan Tug and Barge Association stated, "There are 119 tugs and barges (53 tugs and 66 barges) registered with the association, with about 150 crew members currently working. The digital leaflet will be very helpful in raising awareness of accidents among the crew of tugs and barges."
In addition, Gunsan Regional VTS plans to produce key rings with QR codes to distribute to vessel operators under its jurisdiction and to update the status of maritime accidents every month for a more effective maritime safety campaign.
Kim Hongmo, head of the Gunsan Regional VTS Center, stated, "We will continue and expand the promotion of the maritime safety campaign using digital leaflets to prevent maritime accidents," adding, "We will strive to prevent accidents by implementing various maritime safety campaigns."
