Yongin City Organization Restructuring Plan Passed by City Council... Establishment of 2 Bureaus, 3 Divisions, 1 Dong, and 18 Teams

This organizational restructuring plan was promoted to respond to the changes in the city, which is expected to grow to about 1.5 million people, and the rapidly increasing administrative demands, as well as to successfully carry out large-scale urban development projects including the establishment of a semiconductor cluster.

Mayor Lee Sang-il of Yongin said, "We will swiftly reorganize the organization and do our best to provide better policies and administrative services for the citizens."

With this restructuring, the city will establish the 'Autonomous Administration Bureau' considering the expanded authority of the special city status. The existing 'Education, Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau' will be divided into the 'Education, Youth and Women Bureau' and the 'Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau' to strengthen administrative expertise.

The restructuring also includes the establishment of the 'Media Officer' to enhance communication with citizens and the media and promote city policies, and the 'Disaster Response Officer' responsible for rapid initial response and recovery in case of disasters. The Social Welfare Division of Cheoin-gu will be split into the Social Welfare Division and the Family Welfare Division. Yurim-dong, which has surpassed a population of 50,000, will be divided into Yurim 1-dong and Yurim 2-dong.

However, the initial plan to have the Planning and Coordination Office handle policy, budget, personnel, and legal affairs was adjusted during the city council review process so that personnel affairs will be managed by the Autonomous Administration Bureau.

The city plans to strengthen interdepartmental collaboration systems to ensure continuity and efficiency for ongoing projects and new policies implemented even before the organizational restructuring.
