Preventing the Spread of Foot-and-Mouth Disease
Considering the Presidential Election Schedule
The Festival Promotion Committee of Unnam-myeon, Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Co-chairs: Kim Jiyeol, Lee Changrae) announced on the 14th that the '2025 Unnam Don-Se-Go Play Festival', originally scheduled for the 19th to 20th, has been postponed to October 3rd-4th.
This decision was made with the utmost priority placed on containment measures and ensuring community safety due to the recent spread of foot-and-mouth disease in the area, as well as taking into account the upcoming presidential election scheduled for June 3rd.
Lee Changrae, chair of the festival promotion committee, stated, "The Don-Se-Go Play Festival is more than just an event; it will become a major festival representing Unnam-myeon that revitalizes the local economy," and added, "We will return with even richer programs in the atmosphere of autumn."
Kim Jiyeol, head of Unnam-myeon, said, "After much deliberation, we decided to postpone the festival to ensure fair election management and prevent the spread of foot-and-mouth disease," and continued, "With the postponement, we will prepare a more complete festival that both local residents and tourists can enjoy."
Meanwhile, 'Don-Se-Go' refers to the local specialties of Unnam-myeon: pork (Don), Saebalnamul (Se), and sweet potato (Go). The festival aims to enhance the brand value of these local specialties and invigorate the local economy.
