Gwangju Cheomdan 1-dong Community Organizations Deliver Donation for Wildfire Recovery Support

The social organization of Cheomdan 1-dong, Gwangsan-gu, donated 3.65 million won to support the restoration of areas affected by wildfires. Provided by Gwangju Community Chest of Korea

Gwangju Community Chest of Korea (Chairman Park Cheolhong, hereafter Gwangju Sarangui-Yeolmae) announced on the 14th that social organizations from Cheomdan 1-dong in Gwangsan-gu have delivered a donation of 3.65 million KRW to support the recovery of wildfire-affected areas.

This donation was collected by approximately 150 members from eight social organizations in Cheomdan 1-dong (Cheomdan District Merchants Association, Residents' Autonomous Committee, Community Security Council, Community Disaster Prevention Group, Tongjangdan, Apartment Residents' Representatives Council, Red Cross Volunteer Society, and Cheomdan Transition Village Network).

The '365' in the donation amount symbolizes the hope that the wildfire-affected areas in Yeongnam will be restored with warmth, like the human body temperature of 36.5 degrees Celsius. It reflects the determination of the Cheomdan 1-dong social organization members to remember the victims and walk alongside them. The donation will be used for the recovery of wildfire-affected areas and to support the victims.

Jeong Heejeong, head of Cheomdan 1-dong, said, "This joint donation ceremony will serve as an important opportunity to deliver hope to the residents of the affected areas by uniting the hearts of the local community."
