Ahn Cheol-soo: "Lee Jae-myung's AI Pledge, Is This K-NVIDIA Season 2... If You Don't Know, Stay Quiet"

Ahn: "When ignorant, all they shout is public, free, and unconditional investment"
"The biggest obstacle to AI advancement is Lee Jaemyung"

On the 14th, Ahn Cheol-soo, a member of the People Power Party, criticized former Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung's announcement of a vision for fostering the artificial intelligence (AI) industry, saying, "Is this another K-NVIDIA Season 2? Please just stay quiet if you don't know."

On the same day, Ahn posted on Facebook an article titled "Is Candidate Lee Jae-myung's AI Pledge Another 'K-NVIDIA Season 2'?" and criticized, "I doubt whether the former leader truly understands AI. When ignorant, all they shout is public, free, and unconditional investment."

On that day, Lee announced pledges to open an era of 100 trillion won AI investment, including ▲ strengthening the functions of the Presidential National AI Committee ▲ creating a national AI data accumulation cluster ▲ opening public data to the private sector for corporate research and development ▲ establishing a global AI joint investment fund ▲ introducing AI-related 'STEM' education programs ▲ establishing AI colleges at regional base universities ▲ rationalizing AI regulations ▲ promoting the national AI project 'Modu-ui AI' (Korean-style ChatGPT).

Regarding the free nationwide use of the Korean-style ChatGPT, Ahn said, "It reminds me of the public delivery app created during my time as Gyeonggi Province governor, which was supposed to eliminate fees. At that time, I said the government's role is to prevent market monopolies, and that the government and companies have separate roles; the public sector should not directly intervene in making delivery apps. But all I got in return were insulting remarks," and criticized, "As everyone knows, the Gyeonggi Province public app ended up being 'leftover rice' due to inconvenient usability and low competitiveness."

On the reduction of working hours due to AI use, he said, "AI is both an opportunity and a threat, and change itself. It creates new jobs but also causes jobs to disappear," and pointed out, "Ultimately, the AI era inevitably accompanies painful structural reforms." Ahn continued, "We need to create a partner model where AI works together with people, not just AI working alone," emphasizing, "Just shouting about technology and painting a rosy future won't make it happen."

Ahn particularly questioned, "While (former leader Lee) says he will support the development and demonstration of AI-dedicated neural processing units (NPUs), he actually opposes the special exemption for 52-hour workweek rules essential for chip development," and asked, "How can you say you support technology development when you make it impossible to develop? Are you aware that the biggest obstacle to AI advancement is candidate Lee Jae-myung himself?"

Furthermore, Ahn repeatedly proposed a debate to Lee, saying, "Instead of writing only nice things on Facebook, how about having a formal 'AI debate' that you proposed but actually avoided, with me?"
