Mujugun Hosts Fam Tour in Connection with Seokdo Ferry Passenger Line

Development and Promotion of Korea-bound Tourism Products

Mujugun in North Jeolla Province conducted a familiarization tour (fam tour) on the 12th and 13th, in connection with the passenger ship 'Seokdo Ferry' docking at Gunsan Port in North Jeolla Special Self-Governing Province.

According to the county on the 14th, this fam tour was organized to develop and promote Korea-bound tourism products for foreign travelers, with about 20 representatives from the Chinese travel industry participating, drawing much attention.

The participants toured Mujugun's representative tourist attractions, such as Deogyusan Mountain and Muju Gucheondong Valley, and experienced Nakhwa-nori (firework play) at Dumun Village in Anseong-myeon.

They also visited Taekwondowon and Muju Deogyusan Resort, confirming Mujugun's appeal as a sacred site for Taekwondo and a winter sports destination. There was also great interest in the food experience using Mujugun's specialty, Firefly Apples.

Fam tour participant Fu Yu, head of the Korea Travel Corporation's China branch, said, "This visit became an important starting point for discovering new tourism products," adding, "In particular, the harmony of Mujugun's beautiful nature and unique traditional culture is expected to captivate foreign tourists."

The county plans to use this fam tour as a starting point to develop various Korea-bound tourism products in cooperation with North Jeolla Special Self-Governing Province and the Korea Tourism Organization. At the same time, it will strengthen collaboration with overseas travel industries to showcase its status as a 'Grade 1 Regional Tourism Development Index', 'Top 10 Regional Tourism Attraction City in Korea', 'Korea's Top 100 Night Tourism Destinations', and 'UN Best Tourism Village'.

Lee Hyunwoo, head of the county's Tourism Promotion Division, said, "We feel proud that we were able to introduce a more special side of Korea to overseas tourists through the Muju tourism program linked with Seokdo Ferry," adding, "As the county aims to become a K-Tourism Capital and has confirmed its potential to be recognized in the global tourism market, we will continue to focus on upgrading Muju's specialized nature tourism products tailored to them."

The county, focusing on attracting overseas tourists under the slogan 'Muju, the City of Special Nature, Now to the World', carried out fam tours and participated in international expos targeting Vietnam, China, and Taiwan last year, along with tourism policy exchanges. This year, it plans to concentrate on promoting joint overseas tourism and publicity projects in connection with the Muju Tourism Association, the 'Three Provinces, Three Counties' alliance, and the Baekje Cultural Area.
