Supporting the Swift Return of Affected Farmers to Agricultural Activities
Sancheong County in Gyeongnam announced on the 14th that it will provide free rental and on-site repair services for agricultural machinery to help farmers affected by the massive wildfire quickly resume their farming activities.
The county, together with the Gyeongsangnam-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services and the agricultural technology centers of 15 cities and counties in the province that were not affected by the wildfire, will form an emergency agricultural machinery support team.
The support team plans to visit wildfire-affected villages to repair broken agricultural machinery and provide farming operation services to aid in recovery efforts.
Starting on the 14th, free repairs of agricultural machinery will be carried out in Jungtae Village, Sicheon-myeon, which suffered the most severe wildfire damage.
Then, on the 22nd, a repair volunteer team will be organized with agricultural machinery manufacturers (Daedong, TYM, LS Mtron, Asia Tech) to tour the affected areas and conduct inspections and repairs of agricultural machinery.
Additionally, on the 23rd and 24th, the agricultural technology centers of 15 cities and counties in the province will provide repair services for agricultural machinery and farming operation services in the wildfire-affected areas.
Previously, since the 2nd, Sancheong County has been operating a system that allows affected farmers to rent agricultural machinery such as tractors and cultivators free of charge from the county's agricultural machinery rental centers until wildfire recovery is complete.
County Governor Lee Seunghwa said, "We will do our utmost to ensure that farmers affected by the wildfire can return to their livelihoods as soon as possible through this free agricultural machinery rental and repair support."
