The People Power Party criticized the Democratic Party of Korea's primary system, saying, "Is this a rally to endorse Lee Jae-myung, the former Democratic Party leader who is both a 'convict' and a 'defendant'?"
On the 13th, Seo Ji-young, the floor spokesperson for the People Power Party, stated, "The Democratic Party has abolished the 'national primary' system, which they once prided themselves on as their tradition, for the sake of just one person."
Seo criticized the Democratic Party's primary rules, saying, "Ignoring the opinions of the party's primary candidates, they changed the system so that there is no small chance for any candidate other than the former leader to become the final nominee," adding, "The Democratic Party claims it is to prevent 'reverse voting,' but it seems to stem from Lee's anxiety and trauma after experiencing the public veto caused by the 'Daejang-dong scandal' and the last-minute fierce challenge from candidate Lee Nak-yeon during the last presidential primary."
He said, "Even the Democratic Party primary candidates are protesting, saying 'the Democratic Party is in danger,' but having experienced 'sudden deaths' in the last general election, it is doubtful whether they can raise their voices," emphasizing, "The Democratic Party's convention is turning into a rally to endorse Lee Jae-myung, who is both a 'convict' and a 'defendant,' by sidelining other primary candidates, and the public is watching closely."
He also criticized, "While the Democratic Party is holding a one-sided autocratic endorsement convention, they are continuously unleashing excessive criticism toward the People Power Party's presidential candidates," adding, "At Lee's last Supreme Council meeting, they held a 'praise song' contest, and now they are holding a slander contest against the People Power Party's presidential candidates, trying to win Lee's favor."
He continued, "No matter how much one fails to see the plank in their own eye, the Democratic Party, which is trying to endorse and rally a person with four prior convictions and currently on trial for 12 charges as their presidential candidate, is not in a position to criticize the People Power Party," adding, "Everyone has witnessed how Lee, with the Democratic Party holding an absolute majority in the National Assembly, controlled the legislature to halt the government."
Finally, he said, "If the Democratic Party also controls the executive branch, South Korea will fall into the hands of a single person," and added, "The People Power Party will work with the public to prevent the completion of a dictatorship system by the Democratic Party."
