Emergency Repair Completed for Sinkhole Near Aeogae Station, Mapo-gu, Seoul Subway

A sinkhole accident on a main road in Gangdong-gu resulted in casualties, bringing the issue of sinkholes to national attention.

Meanwhile, on the 13th, a sinkhole measuring 40cm in diameter and 1.3m deep occurred in a lane in front of Aeogae Station on Seoul Subway Line 5 in Mapo-gu.

At around 8:50 a.m. that day, the Mapo Police Station received a related report and controlled traffic on the four lanes in front of Aeogae Station.

Subsequently, the Seoul Western Road Office stepped in and completed emergency repairs. This sinkhole is known to have been caused by a problem with the sewage pipeline.

Officials including Park Gang-su, the mayor of Mapo-gu, visited the site to inspect the construction area.
