Ros?, Talks About Her Signature Bleached Hair... Maintaining It for 7 Years
Experts Say "Bleaching Causes More Hair Damage Than Regular Dyeing"
Ros?, a member of the group BLACKPINK, has been maintaining bleached hair for seven years. However, experts explain that frequent bleaching using artificial chemicals can cause severe damage to the hair.
Ros? recently appeared on the YouTube channel 'Vanity Fair' and spoke about her signature bright blonde bleached hair. She said, "I don't plan to change my hair color yet," adding, "I once forgot to bleach my roots, and I really disliked it."
Bleaching is a process that uses artificial chemicals to remove the natural color of hair. It destroys the melanin pigment in the hair using bleaching agents made from ammonium persulfate and hydrogen peroxide.
Frequent bleaching damages the cuticle (scale-like keratin protein cells that make up the hair). Moreover, to maintain blonde hair for a long time, regular bleaching is necessary.
Experts say, "Bleaching is more than 10 times more damaging to the scalp and hair than regular dyeing."
A scalp care specialist stated on their YouTube channel 'QueendayeonTV' that "Ros?'s bleached hair is the result of tremendous effort," adding, "Doing that can completely ruin the scalp."
The specialist speculated that the reason Ros? has been able to maintain bleached hair for seven years is not due to any special care method but rather a combination of her diligent efforts and professional help.
They also added, "People who frequently perm their hair should avoid bleaching because their hair can melt, and those with seborrheic or sensitive scalps should not bleach as it can cause hair loss."
The specialist warned against using cheap chemicals when bleaching. They also emphasized, "Trying to bleach all at once in a single day is dangerous," and advised that to prevent side effects from bleaching, it is better to bleach small amounts slowly rather than all at once.
Regarding post-bleaching care, they recommended, "It is better to use treatments rather than rinses on bleached hair and to apply them two to three times a week or more," and urged, "When drying hair, avoid hot air as the heat can melt the hair; use cold air instead."
