This agreement is part of a project aimed at guaranteeing mobility rights and improving the convenience of life for the elderly by providing practical transportation fare support benefits to senior citizens aged 70 and over residing in Hanam City. In particular, Hanam City and NongHyup will establish a cooperative system through this agreement to ensure stable operation of the project and enhance convenience for beneficiaries.
The signing ceremony was held with key officials in attendance, including Lee Hyun-jae, Mayor of Hanam City, Lee Seok-pyo, Head of NongHyup Bank Hanam Branch, Noh Yong-nam, Chairman of Hanam NongHyup Cooperative, and Seok Sang-in, Chairman of Seo Hanam NongHyup Cooperative.
Participants in the project can receive support for transportation fares incurred when using village buses (18 routes), city buses (30 routes), and metropolitan buses (8 routes) passing through Hanam City, up to 40,000 KRW per quarter and a maximum of 160,000 KRW annually.
Starting from the 30th, Hanam City will begin issuing G-PASS transportation cards at 22 branches of NongHyup Bank and local agricultural and livestock cooperatives within the city. Card issuance and payback (transportation fare refund) applications can be made by applicants themselves by visiting the branch with their ID. The card issuance fee will be waived, and Hanam City will also support the costs associated with card production.
Transportation fare support under the 'Tong(Hanam)' project will begin from the usage on May 30th, after a one-month card issuance period, to minimize inconvenience caused by the surge in applications and delays in issuance from approximately 32,000 senior citizens aged 70 and over.
Mayor Lee Hyun-jae of Hanam City stated, "Now that we have entered an aging society, the mobility convenience of senior citizens is not just a transportation issue but a welfare issue directly linked to quality of life," adding, "We will do our best to ensure the successful establishment of the 'Tong(Hanam)' project through close cooperation with NongHyup."
He continued, "We will continue to promote various policies to realize vibrant daily lives and transportation welfare for senior citizens."
Hanam City plans to strengthen the support system for transportation-vulnerable groups through this agreement and take a step closer to becoming a warm welfare city that all citizens can feel.
