Kim Seonghoe, Democratic Party Spokesperson, Issues Written Briefing
"Ruling Party and Han Ducksoo, Set Aside Obsession with Power and Start with Self-Reflection"
Recently, amid rumors of an early presidential election candidacy, the Democratic Party raised their voices in criticism toward Han Duck-soo, the Acting President and Prime Minister, demanding that he "clarify his position."
On the 13th, Kim Seong-hoe, spokesperson for the Democratic Party, stated in a written briefing, "Do not use state affairs to weigh your own desires," and criticized, "The sole responsibility entrusted to the Acting President at this moment is to fairly manage the presidential election so that a government capable of restoring the Republic of Korea can be launched without any setbacks."
Spokesperson Kim pointed out, "The already deteriorated state affairs are being shaken to the core by the rumors of Han's presidential candidacy," and questioned, "I want to ask whether the People Power Party, which is demanding Han's candidacy, or Han himself, who is showing ambiguous attitudes about this, have any sense of shame before the people."
He continued, "The ruling party is the party that deployed the military to the National Assembly and produced traitors who violated the constitution," and criticized Han as "a failed Prime Minister who could not stop the president plotting illegal martial law and rebellion, leading to his dismissal."
He added, "The Republic of Korea has not yet recovered from the aftereffects of rebellion, yet those who condoned and contributed to it are now trying to seize power again, holding the state affairs hostage," and asked, "Aren't you ashamed?"
Furthermore, he said, "What Han and the People Power Party need is not political calculation but the minimum responsibility as public officials and as a legitimate party," and urged, "Put aside your obsession with power and start with a sincere reflection before the people."
He questioned Han, "Do you think it makes sense for someone who should maintain political neutrality and manage the presidential election to be mentioned as a presidential candidate and still remain in office managing the election phase?" and emphasized, "Clarify your position immediately."
He added, "There is no time left for the Republic of Korea to entrust state affairs to someone who neither has the resolve to handle state affairs nor the courage to step down and face the judgment of the people."
