Robot Delivers Coffee to Office... LG Display Introduces Korea's First Industrial Complex Robot Delivery Service

Service Launches at Coffee Shop in Paju Complex
Service Items to Be Expanded and More Robots to Be Added
Pilot Operation Until the 18th, Commercial Service Begins on the 21st

LG Display is introducing a delivery service using AI-based autonomous driving robots in its industrial complex.

On the 14th, LG Display announced that it will launch an outdoor delivery service using delivery robots from Woowa Brothers at its Paju plant in Gyeonggi-do, covering routes from coffee shops to the entrances of office and factory buildings where employees work. This is the first outdoor robot delivery service in an industrial complex in South Korea.

The delivery robots quickly recognize surrounding objects and obstacles and autonomously operate at a walking speed of about 1.5 meters per second. The Paju plant, which spans an area equivalent to about 150 soccer fields, requires more than 30 minutes for a round trip on foot from the franchise coffee shop to the farthest workplace.

LG Display expects that the introduction of this robot delivery service will significantly reduce employees' travel distance and time. Orders can be easily placed via a mobile application, and after a pilot operation until the 18th, the full commercial service will begin on the 21st.

In the future, the range of items available for robot delivery will also be expanded. LG Display plans to increase delivery items beyond coffee to include hamburgers and others based on employee feedback, as well as add more operating robots to continuously improve convenience.

An LG Display official said, "Starting with the introduction of AI-based robot delivery services, we will enhance employee satisfaction and work efficiency," adding, "We plan to continue building various smart work environments through digital transformation (DX) management innovation utilizing AI."
